This is the garden in front of my studio, which has been sown with wildflower seeds. The flowering plants and grasses are indigenous to my locality in the Cotswolds, along with some random ' legacy' species from when it was a more formal garden. I've used some fluorescent oil paints and oil bars (solid oil paint which can be used like a crayon) to depict the intense colours of the flowers caught in the summer sunshine. In particular, lychnis, such an vivid magenta colour, contrasts sharply with the more delicate shades.
Painted on a deep canvas, this work is suitable for hanging unframed.
