I had to do something for Ukraine. Apart from donating to some relief agencies on the ground, I felt an urge to use my art to do something positive, to spread hope and also generate more support. So I put aside everything else and worked furiously to create ‘Sunflowers for Ukraine’. Sunflowers are the national flowers of Ukraine; their flag references a field of sunflowers against a clear blue sky, so I made my piece fairly representational and as bright and yellow and blue and uplifting as possible whilst remaining faithful to the subject.

I sold this painting overnight but the Brian Sinfield Gallery had put it in their window and also received an offer, so I painted a second one.
